The Pharmaceutical Management Service Team at Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences:
Bhaskar Chaudhuri, Ph.D.
President & Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Chaudhuri has a doctorate in physical pharmacy, an M.S. in industrial pharmacy and a B.S. in pharmacy. He has over 20 years experience in pharmaceutical management service, research and development.
Prior to joining Dow, Dr. Chaudhuri served as Executive Vice President of Scientific Affairs for Bertek Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Mylan Laboratories, with responsibility for research and development for cardiology, neurology and dermatology as well as manufacturing areas of the company.
Prior to this he was the General Manager of the dermatology division of Mylan Labs. From 1992 to 1998 he worked for Penederm Inc., a dermatology company acquired by Mylan, where he was intimately involved in the development of several dermatology products.
While at Penederm, Dr. Chaudhuri held several positions including that of Vice President of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Gordon Dow, Pharm. D.
Founder & Chief Technical Officer
For almost 30 years, Dr. Gordon Dow has been spearheading the organization's evolution into an internationally recognized, topical product development company.
Prior to founding Dow Dermatologics in 1977, Gordon served as Vice President of Research and Development at Ingram Pharmaceuticals; a company later acquired by Syntex, where he developed seven commercially successful products, including four dermatologicals.
Dr. Dow holds a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of California in San Francisco. Gordon's keen sense of balance between science and business has been a key component in Dow’s service and has been a cornerstone in the added value in pharmaceutical management services and products that we provide our customers.
Diana M. Chen, M.D..
Vice President, Medical Affairs
Dr. Chen, a board-certified dermatologist, is responsible for medical oversight of clinical trial design and implementation and of internally developed products at Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences, Inc.
Prior to joining Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences, Inc., Dr. Chen was Vice President of Medical Affairs at Connetics Corporation (now a wholly owned subsidiary of Stiefel Laboratories, Inc) with responsibility for medical affairs, medical information, and pharmacovigilance. Prior to this, she served at Abbott Laboratories as Global Medical Director of Global Pharmaceutical Research and Development in the Immunoscience Division and at Novartis Pharmaceuticals as Associate Medical Director of US Medical Affairs for dermatology.
Dr. Chen received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her internship in internal medicine at University of Pittsburgh and her residency training in dermatology at Medical College of Wisconsin. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology.
Raymond W. (Bill) Anderson, M.B.A., M.S.
Chief Financial Officer & Vice President, Finance & Administration
Bill oversees finance and accounting, information technology, human resources, and purchasing.
Bill has more than 30 years of healthcare industry experience, primarily focused in financial management within the biopharmaceutical sector. Prior to joining Dow he was Chief Financial Officer for Transurgical, Inc., a private medical technology company. Earlier, Bill served as COO/CFO at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. Bill has held similar executive-level positions with Syntex, Chiron, Glycomed and Fusion Medical Technologies. He has been responsible for a variety of corporate functions including accounting and financial planning, human resources, investor relations, operations, information technology, legal services and purchasing.
Bill holds an M.B.A. from Harvard University, an M.S. in administration from George Washington University, and a B.S. in engineering from the United States Military Academy.
Barry Calvarese, B.A., M.S.
Vice President, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs
Barry oversees regulatory approval strategies, marketing authorization submissions, and clinical trial design and implementation for Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences, Inc.. He brings to the company 25 years of experience in the dermatological, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical-device product development and approval fields. Barry was formerly Vice President of Regulatory, Clinical and Quality for Fibrogen, Inc. He also served as Executive Director of Regulatory and Clinical affairs for Penederm Inc., a dermatology company, where he gained extensive hands-on experience in managing the approval of three new topical dermatological prescription drugs. Barry also has substantial regulatory and clinical affairs experience with other companies including Progressive Angioplasty Systems, Collagen Corporation, Advanced Surgical Intervention, Pfizer and the UCLA School of Medicine. He holds an M.S. in epidemiology and a B.A. in psychology from UCLA.
David Mullarkey, B.S., M.B.A.
Vice President of Marketing
Dave has responsibility for optimizing the potential for Dow’s portfolio of internally developed products. Dave possesses over 17 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare industry experience spanning sales, strategic marketing, management consulting, business development and clinical research. Prior to joining Dow, he was a Director and Global Commercial Leader at Johnson & Johnson's Pharmaceuticals Group Strategic Marketing organization.
Dave started his professional career in 1988 with Eli Lilly and Company and spent four years in the field as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. He has also held several positions of increasing responsibility in business development and marketing with SCIREX, a CNS and analgesia-focused contract research organization, and spent four years in the pharmaceutical sales and marketing industry practice of Coopers & Lybrand Management Consulting.
Dave graduated with a bachelor’s degree in applied economics and business management from Cornell University and holds an M.B.A. in marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Steve Smith, R.Ph., M.S.
Vice President of Marketing & Business Development
Steve is responsible for sales, marketing and business development at Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences Inc. He holds a B.S. in pharmacy and a M.S. in pharmacy administration (business), both from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
Steve has 35 years of industry experience with companies including Upjohn, Abbott, American Critical Care, Miles, RP Scherer and Fujisawa Healthcare. He has held positions in marketing, marketing research, new product planning, licensing, business development and strategic planning with Rx and OTC drug companies, as well as service companies.
